The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported a 2.4% increase in the headline Producer Price Index (PPI) in October, surpassing expectations for a 2.3% gain and markedly up from September's 1.9% annual increase (revised from 1.8%). Meanwhile, the Producer Price Index excluding Food and Energy gained by 3.1% YoY vs. 3.0% expected and the 2.9% advance seen in the previous reading.
On a monthly basis, the headline PPI rose by 0.2% vs. a month earlier and 0.3% when stripping Food and Energy costs. Both prints matched initial expectations.
